Theatre performance by the NSPCC
Year 5 and 6 were visited by the NSPCC on Monday 11th March. An immersive theatre in education play was preformed by members of the NK Theatre Company called “The Net: Sam’s Story"
Comissioned by the NSPCC, the play is focused around a character named Sam, who believes she is tech-savvy, only for things to decline once she shares images on different social media platforms that are unsuitable for her age.
The children were enthralled by the performance and actively engaged throughout. To make it even more personal, the cast were able to read the reactions from the childen and adapt scenes to create different outcomes/scenarios the children could identify with.
A sad statistic is that almost every child has been witness or victim to nasty or hurtful comments online. This production was such a positive for the children. As part of a multi-agency Doncaster Safety Net campaign, it will also be working to encourage parents, to help them feel more confident insupporting their children online.
