Stainforth Kirton Lane Primary School

Maths

All will achieve At Kirton Lane.

Our curriculum is underpinned by our aims to provide all pupils with knowledge and skills that can be applied to the future challenges they are likely to face. Within mathematics, we do this by ensuring there is purpose to learning and opportunities to apply this learning through ‘real life’ problems within our chilli challenge style of questioning. Our curriculum allows children to take small steps through their learning, ensuring all children achieve. The small steps allow children to work at their own pace and deepen their understanding as they progress through the challenges set.

Using the resources of White Rose Maths to enhance teaching of the small steps, this supports children in their 'journey to master’' each element taught.

At Kirton Lane we enrich our children in their learning and one integral part of this is through vocabulary. Vocabulary knowledge is a significant part of learning within maths.

To the right you will see a progression document which outlines how vocabulary is developed from EYFS to Year 6.

Long-term plans for each year group can be found below, along with the White Rose Calculation Policies (Addition & Subtraction and Multiplication & Division)
