At Kirton Lane Primary, like most schools in Doncaster, cooked meals, including a vegetarian option, are prepared daily in our kitchen. All are cooked on the premises by our cook, Mrs Turner and her staff. The children are then supervised by our team of midday supervisors. The school changed to Family Service recently, which has helped the older children gain skills in serving food to the younger ones. and children are offered a choice of main courses and desserts. Salads and fruit are always available. Meals are eaten in the dining hall.
The cost of a school meal is £2.00. We are happy to accept payment for the week, month, half term or term. Cheques (made payable to DMBC) or cash should be placed in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the child’s name and class and handed into the class teacher or at the School Office. We prefer a half terms’ notice to change lunch arrangements.

Children up to the age of five are entitled to free school milk every day. The milk supplied to Kirton Lane is provided by ‘Cool Milk’ a national supplier who delivers to a network of local dairies. Children over five at Kirton Lane pay 18/19p per day for their milk. This is less than the national standard charge of 22p. Children who have milk will drink it just before or after their morning play.
